On The Mark Management Launches OTMCS to Streamline Specialty Construction Trades

On The Mark Management, Inc., a commercial general contractor, has launched On The Mark Construction Services (OTMCS), a new division that provides specialty construction services and operated equipment to general contractors, property managers, and facilities teams across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. The division operates on what it calls a wet rental model: every piece of equipment deployed arrives with a trained, certified operator, and every service line carries its own crews. This approach consolidates multiple trades under one vendor, potentially reducing scheduling and quality risks for general contractors who typically coordinate separate subcontractors for scanning, cutting, drilling, hauling, and equipment rental.

Mark Tiahrt, President of On The Mark Management, Inc., explained the rationale: "When you rent equipment and staff it yourself, you inherit the operator problem, the compliance problem and the scheduling problem. We built this so a GC makes one call, and one crew shows up that can scan the slab, cut the opening, core the penetration and haul it out. And once they see we can put the pipe in the ground too, not just make the hole, the scope gets bigger on its own." This model could appeal to contractors seeking efficiency and accountability, as it eliminates the need to manage multiple subcontractors and ensures compliance with operator certification requirements.

OTMCS launches with more than 30 pieces of equipment across eight service lines. These include GPR scanning for non-destructive subsurface locating of rebar, conduits, post-tension cables, and voids; core drilling from 1 to 24 inches; saw cutting for concrete, asphalt, masonry, and structural steel; sewer inspections and hydrojetting; spray foam insulation; excavator and skid steer services with operator; boom lift services with OSHA-certified operators; and flooring, coatings, and underground work. Additionally, the division offers in-house architectural design, issuing permit-ready drawing sets and self-performing the trades it designs, allowing OTMCS to take a scope from drawings through to completion.

The new division serves commercial renovations, tenant build-outs, government facilities, data centers, and new construction. It holds a Virginia Class A contractor license and carries $2 million in general liability coverage with workers' compensation. OTMCS states same-week availability and a two-hour quote turnaround. For more information, visit www.otmcsinc.com or call (703) 880-8400.

The launch of OTMCS matters because it addresses a persistent pain point in the construction industry: the fragmentation of specialty trades. By bundling services and equipment with operators, OTMCS offers a single point of contact that can reduce project delays and quality issues. For general contractors in the DMV region, this could mean streamlined operations and cost savings. The wet rental model also ensures that equipment is operated by trained professionals, mitigating safety and compliance risks. As construction projects grow in complexity, integrated service providers like OTMCS may become increasingly valuable, potentially influencing how contractors structure their subcontracting in the future.
