Ontario's regulated iGaming market achieved unprecedented growth in May 2025, with record-breaking revenue and wagering, highlighting the sector's significant contribution to the province's economy.

Ontario's iGaming sector witnessed a historic surge in May 2025, with gross gaming revenue (GGR) reaching a new monthly record of CA$338.0 million, marking a 2.9% increase from the previous high and a 40.3% rise compared to May of the previous year. This growth was accompanied by total player wagering surpassing the CA$8 billion mark for the first time, reaching CA$8.07 billion, a 3.5% increase from April and a 28.9% jump year-on-year.
Online casinos dominated the market, generating CA$259.8 million in revenue, accounting for 77% of the total iGaming revenue, while sports betting contributed CA$71.8 million, and online poker added CA$6.3 million. Despite a slight decrease in active player accounts, the average revenue per active player account rose by 10.0%, indicating higher spending among engaged players.
With 50 licensed operators and 86 websites, Ontario's iGaming market is not only robust but also significantly outperforms other Canadian provinces. This record-setting performance underscores the growing consumer demand for online gambling and the effectiveness of Ontario's regulated market in generating substantial economic activity.
