The Parent Coaching Institute has launched a new initiative called Technology Success Stories, featuring audio interviews with parents sharing their experiences managing children's technology use. Gloria DeGaetano, CEO and founder of the institute, emphasizes the importance of parent voices in addressing technology issues, stating that every family has unique approaches to fostering healthy technology habits.
The resource showcases parents of children across all developmental stages, with one example being Reem, who discovered that excessive screen time for her 3-year-old contributed to behavioral issues. During her interview, she explained how observing her child and following parental instincts led to effective solutions. Research supporting parental decisions is included where available, such as data showing that more than four hours of daily screen time for babies and toddlers increases autism symptom risk, accessible at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10353907/.
Upcoming interviews will feature parents of teenagers and Tierney Boggs, a PCI Certified Parent Coach® and instructor. Boggs, author of a children's book and a book for parents, will discuss how she and her husband adjusted screen time rules as their three children aged. DeGaetano notes that the initiative highlights parents' wisdom and creativity, offering practical ideas rather than expert mandates, which can help other families facing similar challenges.
The Parent Coaching Institute, recognized as an innovative leader in family support, offers a Parent Coach Certification® program in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University. Applications for the 2026 Spring Term, beginning in late February, are being accepted until February 1, with more information available at https://www.ThePCI.org. This initiative matters as it provides evidence-based, relatable strategies for parents navigating technology's role in child development, potentially reducing screen time risks and improving family dynamics.
