The Peralta Colleges Foundation is commemorating 50 years of supporting students across Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College with the announcement of its 2025 Dr. William "Bill" Riley "Swing For Student Success" Golf Tournament. Established in 1971, the foundation has consistently provided scholarships and financial assistance to help students achieve their academic and career goals.
Dr. William "Bill" Riley, a board member of the foundation, emphasized the tournament's role in addressing critical educational needs. "Hosting this year's golf tournament enables the foundation to support the intellectual, cultural and educational needs of our students, faculty, and staff throughout the Peralta Colleges," he stated. Funds raised are directed toward initiatives that elevate students from poverty, train the unemployed and underemployed, and prepare students for successful transitions to four-year universities.
Scheduled for Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland, the event offers businesses and individuals an opportunity to contribute to student success through sponsorship. Participants play a crucial role in transforming lives by helping students reach their full potential. The foundation encourages organizations to demonstrate community spirit by supporting this event, which aligns with its mission of empowering students to achieve their educational aspirations.
