The Peru Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai became a vibrant showcase of Peruvian culture on June 24, 2025, with a special event dedicated to two of the country's most iconic festivals, Inti Raymi and Fiesta de San Juan. The event, featuring live performances and screenings, allowed attendees to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of Peru, from the Andean highlands to the Amazon rainforest.
Fernando Albareda, Deputy Commissioner General of Peru, emphasized the significance of these festivals, noting their deep roots in Peruvian heritage and their role in celebrating the sun god and the joy of life. The event's lineup included traditional dances such as the Valicha and the Shipibo Dance, each representing the unique identity and pride of their respective regions.
Inside the Pavilion, guests enjoyed a guided tour, a cocktail reception, and a tasting menu featuring dishes like Juane, alongside performances and a photo booth inspired by Peruvian traditions. The event also extended into the digital realm, with a virtual recreation of Inti Raymi available in Peru's Virtual Pavilion, accessible worldwide.
This cultural showcase not only celebrated Peru's diversity but also served as a strategic effort to promote the country's heritage and tourism attractions, including landmarks like Machu Picchu and the Rainbow Mountains of Palccoyo. The Peru Pavilion continues to highlight the country's cultural, culinary, and regional diversity throughout Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.
