Peru is set to revolutionize international exposition participation by creating a comprehensive digital pavilion for the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, offering a groundbreaking virtual tour that highlights the nation's rich cultural landscape.
The digital pavilion, accessible through the "Virtual Expo" application on multiple platforms including smartphones, computers, and virtual reality devices, will provide users worldwide an immersive exploration of Peru's heritage. Utilizing advanced photogrammetry techniques, the experience will feature high-precision 3D models of significant cultural artifacts, including the Lord of Sicán mask, Paracas cultural textiles, Nasca ceramics, and archaeological treasures from the Caral archaeological zone.
Under the theme "Infinite Possibilities," the virtual experience aims to present Peru's multifaceted identity, connecting its ancient cultural roots with contemporary innovation. Visitors can create personalized avatars and interact within a digital archipelago inspired by the real Yumeshima island, engaging with global users through various interactive tools like voice messages, chats, and virtual animations.
This metaverse approach represents a significant evolution in international exposition methodology, allowing participants to explore cultural exhibits, learn about global perspectives, and share insights about societal futures without geographical limitations. By participating in this digital platform, Peru demonstrates technological sophistication and a forward-thinking approach to cultural diplomacy.
The virtual pavilion will remain active throughout the six-month Expo duration, concluding on October 13, 2025, and is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism.
