Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) has been granted a $25,000 investment from national nonprofit Petco Love to continue their important work in saving and improving the lives of pets and pet parents in Santa Clara County. Petco Love, founded in 1999, has been a driving force in investing in adoption and other lifesaving efforts, totaling $375 million to date. Through partnerships with organizations like HSSV, Petco Love has facilitated the adoption of 6.75 million pets across North America.
This recent grant is part of Petco Love's larger initiative to provide over $15 million in investments to local organizations nationwide, reaffirming their dedication to ending unnecessary pet euthanasia. Additionally, Petco Love has introduced Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database utilizing image-recognition technology to aid in reuniting lost pets with their families.
This marks the second significant investment made by Petco Love in HSSV within two years, following a previous $25,000 grant in 2022. Kurt Krukenberg, President of HSSV, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the expansion of community service programs that aim to keep pet families together during challenging times, thus preventing pets from entering shelters unnecessarily.
HSSV, established in 1929, is an independent non-profit organization that has successfully placed over 500,000 animals in loving homes. The organization prioritizes animal welfare through adoption services, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and educational programs that strengthen the bond between humans and animals.
The collaboration between Petco Love and HSSV highlights the shared mission of saving lives, maintaining family unity, and fostering a brighter future for pets and their owners.
