The International Domino Federation (IDF) and the National Domino Federation of Puerto Rico (NDFPR) will host the San Juan Domino Challenge on April 24, 2025, at Popular Plaza in San Juan's DISTRITO T-Mobile. The event promises to showcase competitive domino play with sports celebrities and players from the United States, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
Participants will compete for a substantial prize pool of $20,000, with the event running from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Musical performances by DJs will complement the competitive atmosphere, creating an engaging experience for attendees and spectators.
The challenge serves as a pre-event for the larger World Domino Tournament scheduled for October 1-4 at the Convention Center. Multiple sponsors, including the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Monster Energy, and Humana, are supporting the event, underscoring its regional and cultural importance.
Ralph Paniagua, Event Producer for 21 Events, emphasized the event's significance in elevating the profile of dominoes as a competitive sport.
