Quantum BioPharma Advances Multiple Sclerosis Therapy LUCID-MS to Phase 2 Trials

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its proprietary multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, into Phase 2 clinical development. The company reported that Phase 1 studies in healthy volunteers demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with the therapy generally well tolerated. In April 2026, Quantum BioPharma submitted an Investigational New Drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, paving the way for a planned Phase 2 trial in people living with multiple sclerosis.

LUCID-MS is designed to target demyelination and protect or restore myelin integrity, a key mechanism in multiple sclerosis. The company believes the therapy may offer a differentiated, potentially first-in-class approach because it directly addresses myelin loss and neurodegeneration rather than relying solely on immune modulation. Quantum BioPharma is strengthening operational support for the program through a planned partnership with Allucent and engagement with neurological specialists.

Multiple sclerosis affects millions worldwide, and current treatments primarily focus on modulating the immune system to reduce relapses. LUCID-MS aims to tackle the underlying myelin damage, which could slow or reverse disease progression. If successful, this therapy could provide a new option for patients who have limited choices for neuroprotection.

The company is also building a broader portfolio of innovative assets for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., Quantum BioPharma focuses on research and development of Lucid-MS, a patented new chemical entity shown in preclinical models to prevent and reverse myelin degradation. Additionally, Quantum BioPharma retains a 19.84% stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., which markets unbuzzd, an OTC product, and receives royalty payments from sales.
