RecycleBalls and Laykold Unite for Sustainable Tennis Innovation

RecycleBalls, a leader in tennis ball collection and reuse, and Laykold, the world's top court brand, have partnered to revolutionize the environmental impact of tennis. This strategic alliance combines RecycleBalls' expertise in repurposing used tennis balls with Laykold's advanced surfacing technology to create the world's most eco-friendly tennis surface.

In 2023, over 150 million tennis balls were imported into the USA alone, each with a significant carbon footprint and a decomposition time of more than 400 years. The environmental impact is considerable, equating to the carbon emissions of 26,000 cars driven for a year. The collaboration aims to mitigate this impact by transforming old tennis balls into new court surfaces, exemplifying a circular economy approach where waste becomes a valuable resource.

RecycleBalls has already repurposed over 14 million tennis balls through its international collection network. By integrating these recycled balls into Laykold's court systems, the partnership not only addresses waste but also maintains superior quality and playability. Each court could incorporate up to 10,000 recycled balls, depending on the chosen system.

Laykold, known for its high-quality and durable courts, has been the official surface of the US Open since 2020. RecycleBalls has been collecting balls from the tournament, ensuring they are repurposed into community courts. This initiative will continue with the 2024 tournament, marking a new era in sustainable sports infrastructure.
