Renaissance BioScience Corp., a global leader in yeast bioengineering, has appointed Dr. James Tansey to its Board of Directors, the company announced July 30. Dr. Tansey is a serial entrepreneur, research academic and business leader with extensive experience in life sciences, technology commercialization, fundraising and corporate governance. He is a Professor at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business and previously taught at Oxford University's Saïd Business School.
Dr. Tansey is also a member of the founding team at Gemina Labs, where he supports fundraising, business development and shareholder strategy. He serves on the boards of dynaCERT Inc. and Vanadium Resources Ltd., and is a Senior Advisor to InBC, British Columbia's $500 million strategic investment fund. His appointment is expected to bolster Renaissance's strategic direction as it focuses on technology platforms of yeast-produced RNA and yeast-derived virus-like particles (VLPs), with initial applications in crop protection and future applications in animal and human health.
