EBITDA rose to EUR 57.0 million from EUR 46.7 million, and consolidated profit increased to EUR 22.5 million from EUR 14.7 million. The company treated 513,700 patients, a 9% increase compared to 471,295 in the same period last year.
Despite the positive financial results, the company highlighted significant challenges ahead. The immediate transformation costs, established to offset higher personnel and material costs from previous years, impacted the results. Moreover, the company is bracing for the effects of new legislation, including the Hospital Reform Adjustment Act (KHAG) and the Statutory Health Insurance (SHI) Contribution Rate Stabilisation Act (GKV-BStabG). These reforms aim to enhance quality and efficiency but are expected to put hospitals under greater financial pressure in the short term.
Dr. Stefan Stranz, member of the Board of Management, criticized the reforms, stating: "The Statutory Health Insurance Contribution Rate Stabilization Act imposes further burdens on hospitals. Instead of reducing bureaucracy and refocusing on patient care, the reform saddles already overburdened hospitals with even more documentation requirements, excessive budget cuts, and financial risks."
In response to these pressures, RHON-KLINIKUM AG is focusing on expanding regional health networks to improve care coordination and efficiency. The company has initiated strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration between Universitatsklinikum Marburg and Lungenfachklinik Immenhausen to pool expertise in lung patient care. In Brandenburg, a new child protection emergency service at the Frankfurt (Oder) site has been established, with cooperation agreements with the City and District to ensure rapid and effective help for affected children.
