Riivah Fragrances, an independent fragrance house founded in 2025 and based in Redwood City, California, has launched its first two super premium parfums, 'Blue Salt' and 'Molten Light,' each priced at $375 for a 50 ml (1.7 fl. oz.) bottle. To make the scents accessible, the brand is offering discovery sets containing 2 x 2 ml bottles for $30. Both products are available exclusively through the brand's website, with holiday gift sets expected soon.
The fragrances were developed in collaboration with Romanian parfumer Anesia Dican, a resident at the Maison Galimard, and are handcrafted in France. 'Blue Salt' is described as a coastal composition that opens with bergamot, grapefruit, and clean accord, transitions into marine accord, black tea, and white flowers, and settles into a base of white musk, cedarwood, light leather, and amber. 'Molten Light' takes a warmer direction, opening with juicy citrus pineapple and unfolding into mango, red fruits, iris, green tea, and kiwi, before drying down to musk, sweet gourmand, sandalwood, and amber. Each is presented in a weighted obsidian-black glass vessel with a label inspired by a 'roaring twenties' meets South Asian aesthetic, housed in a black box inlaid with Riivah's peacock-inspired logo.
Cofounder Dhatri Pandya said, "Our goal with Riivah was to build fragrances that could stand up against any luxury brand in the world while staying rooted in personal authenticity." Cofounder Shiv Annapareddy added, "Both of these scents tell a story about our deep familial connection to scent, our heritage, and our personal stories." The company's name derives from the Sanskrit word 'rivah,' meaning 'one that moves' or 'one that flows.'
This launch matters because it tests whether a new independent brand can command ultra-premium prices typically reserved for established luxury houses. At $375 per bottle, Riivah is positioning itself alongside heritage fragrance names, but its $30 discovery sets lower the barrier for consumers to sample before committing. That dual strategy could attract curious buyers while building a loyal base. For the broader fragrance industry, Riivah's entry signals that niche, story-driven brands continue to challenge incumbents, especially as consumers seek authenticity and personal connection in their purchases. If successful, Riivah's model may encourage more independent launches that blend luxury pricing with accessible trial options, potentially reshaping how new fragrance brands go to market. For consumers, it offers more choice in a market long dominated by legacy players. As the brand expands its line over the coming year, its performance will be a bellwether for the viability of independent ultra-premium fragrance ventures.
