The World Health Organization has announced its recommendations for the 2026–2027 Northern Hemisphere influenza vaccine composition, highlighting two key developments: the continued spread of A (H3N2) subclade K and the growing circulation of new B/Victoria lineage strains. In regions such as Hong Kong and the U.S., the proportion of B/Victoria lineage viruses recently increased from 6% to over 20%. These trends led WHO to recommend B/Tokyo/EIS13-175/2025 (egg-based) and B/Pennsylvania/14/2025 (cell-based) strains for the upcoming season.
