Six University Orthopaedic Associates Surgeons Named 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctors

University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA), a leading orthopaedic practice in New Jersey, announced that six of its surgeons have been named 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctors. The recognition places them among the top 7% of licensed physicians nationwide, as selected by peers and the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.

The honored physicians are Hesham Abdelfattah, MD; Christopher Doumas, MD; David A. Harwood, MD; Timothy P. Leddy, MD; James T. Monica, MD; and Kenneth G. Swan, Jr., MD. All are board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons specializing in areas such as joint reconstruction, sports medicine, trauma surgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and spinal surgery.

UOA, part of OrthoNJ—the state's largest orthopaedic group—provides comprehensive musculoskeletal care, from traumatic injuries and degenerative joint diseases to sports-related injuries and spinal disorders. The practice offers advanced interventions including joint replacements, robotic-assisted knee surgery, motion-preserving disc replacements, and minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures.

The practice enhances patient care through an integrated network of on-site services, including advanced diagnostics, high-resolution imaging, dedicated physical therapy, hand and occupational rehabilitation, and sports performance training. For outpatient procedures, UOA partners with the University Center for Ambulatory Surgery (UCAS) in Somerset, recognized on the U.S. News & World Report "Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers" list, which features advanced, opioid-sparing pain management protocols.

Beyond clinical work, the physicians hold academic appointments at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and serve as official orthopaedic consultants and team physicians for Princeton University, Rutgers University, Rider University, the Somerset Patriots, and multiple local high schools. They also contribute to medical education and clinical research.

Castle Connolly Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected based on criteria including medical education, training, hospital appointments, and disciplinary histories. Doctors cannot pay for selection. For more information, visit the Castle Connolly Top Doctors list.
