SolarBank Corporation announced plans to develop a 7.2 MW DC ground-mount solar installation in upstate New York, marking a significant expansion of community solar infrastructure in the region. The Glor Rd project represents an important advancement in making clean energy more accessible to local residents.
The solar project will operate under New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) rate mechanism and is expected to qualify for NYSERDA NY-Sun Program incentives. By securing a site lease and initiating an interconnection study, SolarBank is positioning the project to provide clean energy benefits without requiring individual homeowners to install solar panels.
Solar Simplified will manage customer-facing activities to ensure full project subscription and maximize revenue generation. This approach demonstrates a strategic model for community solar development that reduces barriers to renewable energy adoption.
The project highlights the growing trend of distributed solar energy solutions that enable broader community participation in clean energy transition. By creating opportunities for residents to access solar power without personal infrastructure investments, SolarBank is helping to democratize renewable energy infrastructure.
With a potential development pipeline exceeding one gigawatt and an existing portfolio of over 100 megawatts of renewable energy projects, SolarBank continues to play a significant role in expanding clean energy capacity across North America.
