SolarBank Corporation, trading on NASDAQ as SUUN, Cboe CA as SUNN, and FSE as GY2, has announced advancements in its 2.4 MW DC Sydney project located in Nova Scotia. This project, developed in collaboration with AI Renewable Flow-through Fund and Trimac Engineering, represents a $4.57 million investment in the future of renewable energy in Canada. Expected to generate 2,730 MWh of clean energy annually, the project will power approximately 221 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1,900 tons each year.

Construction of the Sydney project is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2026, with SolarBank taking on the roles of developer and EPC contractor. The initiative not only promises to deliver engineering revenues in the near term but also offers long-term income opportunities through operations and maintenance contracts. Importantly, this project aligns with Nova Scotia's ambitious target of achieving 80% renewable energy by 2030, marking a significant step forward in the region's transition to sustainable energy sources.

The Sydney project highlights SolarBank's commitment to expanding its footprint in the community solar sector across Canada and the USA. By focusing on distributed and community solar projects, the company is playing a pivotal role in the shift towards cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions. This development is a testament to the potential of solar energy to meet regional energy demands while addressing environmental concerns, setting a precedent for future projects in the renewable energy sector.
