SS Innovations International, Inc. announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system has been approved for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines, marking a significant expansion of remote surgical capabilities in Southeast Asia. The company also reported successfully completing more than 150 cumulative telesurgeries using the system, primarily in India, demonstrating growing clinical adoption of its technology.
The approval in Indonesia and the Philippines represents a strategic advancement in making robotic surgery accessible across geographical boundaries. According to Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, the SSi Mantra's telesurgery capabilities enable cross-sharing of physician expertise and dismantle traditional barriers to care, furthering the company's mission of driving equitable access to quality healthcare. This development is particularly significant for regions with limited access to specialized surgical expertise, as it allows surgeons to operate on patients remotely using advanced robotic systems.
Recent demonstrations of the system's capabilities include an eight-hour session on February 14, 2026, during which 18 inter-hospital telesurgeries were performed between two Indian cities. These included 13 gastric bypass procedures by Dr. Mohit Bhandari from Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics in Indore and 5 complex gynecological surgeries by Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar from HER Health Hospital in Bhopal. All procedures utilized the SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, a compact chair-based version of the larger command center that enables portability and requires less space.
This achievement follows a previous robotic telesurgery marathon on December 23, 2025, where nine surgeons performed 24 telesurgeries within 12 hours on patients across multiple Indian locations. The procedures included ten different types of surgeries, including intricate cardiac operations, showcasing the system's versatility across specialties. The SSi Mantra system supports over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments and has been clinically validated in India in more than 100 different surgical procedures.
The company will further demonstrate its technology at the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2026 (SMRSC 2026) in New Delhi from April 9-11, 2026, where more than 20 live telesurgeries will be performed using the SSi Mantra across multiple specialties. Registration for the conference is available at https://ssinnovations.com/SMRSC_2026/register/.
This expansion into new markets and the growing number of successful telesurgeries indicates increasing acceptance of remote surgical technologies that could transform healthcare delivery worldwide. By enabling surgeons to operate across distances, such systems address critical shortages of specialized medical expertise in underserved regions while maintaining surgical precision through robotic assistance. The company's progress suggests that telesurgery is transitioning from experimental concept to practical clinical application with measurable impact on patient access to advanced surgical care.
