The Sturgeon Family Foundation has allocated significant funding to local Fort Worth organizations supporting women's services, canine welfare, and entrepreneurship, while also promoting alternative cancer treatments through its dedicated website.

The Sturgeon Family Foundation, led by president Linda Allen, has announced its 2024 charitable contributions totaling $34,750 to various Fort Worth organizations across its four focus areas. The foundation, established in 2023 by local entrepreneur Ron Sturgeon, distributed funds to support women's services, canine welfare, and entrepreneurship initiatives while maintaining its commitment to educating the public about alternative cancer treatments.
In the women's services category, Valiant Hearts received $1,000 as its first gift from the foundation, while Project Beloved was awarded $5,000 for two soft rooms at $2,500 each. The canine welfare sector saw donations to Little Dog Rescue of North Texas, Inc. ($750), Code Red Animal Project ($1,500 as a first gift), and Pets Going Places ($1,500 as a first gift). For entrepreneurship support, Create FW received the first of three yearly grants totaling $25,000.
The foundation's creation was inspired by Sturgeon's personal cancer scare in 2023, which led to the establishment of its educational mission regarding alternative cancer treatments. Sturgeon stated, "I have a number of friends who have used alternative methods and recovered from cancer quickly, without the typical surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy. Their stories are on the websites of the journey to wellness website."
Allen emphasized the foundation's commitment to local giving, stating, "We are proud to support local charities in Fort Worth, and we are still keen to spread the news about alternative cancer care. Our founder, Ron Sturgeon, has given me and the foundation's board clear initiatives, and we are pleased to be executing." The foundation is currently reviewing donation applications for 2025.
Sturgeon formed the foundation as part of an overall estate strategy to disperse wealth accumulated through his success in the auto salvage industry and subsequent real estate leasing business, where he currently serves over 1,000 mom-and-pop tenants. The foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a structured committee system overseeing asset investment, charity identification, and charity evaluation.
