SUSS Consolidates Production in Taiwan and Germany as Record Order Book Reshapes Guidance

SUSS MicroTec SE will concentrate its manufacturing activities at its two largest production sites, consolidating mask aligner production in Zhubei, Taiwan, and module manufacturing in Sternenfels, Germany, the semiconductor equipment maker announced. Production at the company's Garching site will be discontinued, a measure accompanied by a workforce adjustment affecting approximately 70 employees. SUSS said it intends to implement the changes in a socially responsible manner and in close dialogue with employee representatives.

The decision follows continued strong order intake in the third quarter and an order book that reached a new record level. SUSS said the strong backlog improves visibility into future business development and underscores the need for a scalable and efficient manufacturing structure. The company framed the realignment as a response to sustained demand for its advanced packaging and semiconductor manufacturing solutions.

"With this realignment, we are enhancing the scalability of our manufacturing processes, reducing internal interfaces and bringing key production capacities closer to customer markets in Asia," said Dr. Thomas Rohe, COO of SUSS MicroTec SE. The company said consolidating production creates a more efficient structure to meet sustained customer demand and support continued growth. Details of the announcement were carried in the release available through www.newmediawire.com.

Germany remains central to SUSS. Research and development, key manufacturing, application and technology expertise, and the company headquarters will stay in Germany and continue to be expanded. "We are firmly embedded in a strong network of research institutions and benefit from a unique innovation ecosystem in Germany and Europe," said CEO Burkhardt Frick, pointing to a new development and application center under construction in Karlsruhe. In mid-October, SUSS also announced a strategic partnership with Ignite Next, a European platform connecting semiconductor companies, start-ups, investors and research institutions.

The financial implications are immediate. SUSS expects one-off expenses of approximately EUR 6.2 million, of which around EUR 4.5 million are expected in fiscal year 2026. It also anticipates temporary effects on revenue recognition from the relocation and cites a constrained supply situation for certain components expected to defer revenue into fiscal 2027. The Management Board now expects revenue of EUR 405 million to EUR 425 million, down from EUR 425 million to EUR 485 million, and an EBIT margin of 5% to 7%, down from 8% to 10%. The gross profit margin guidance of 35% to 37% is unchanged.

"The associated short-term impacts represent a deliberate spending in greater scalability and operational efficiency," said CFO Dr. Cornelia Ballwießer, adding that the move positions SUSS to benefit from continued growth of the semiconductor equipment market. For investors, the update matters because it trades near-term earnings for manufacturing capacity at a time of record demand; for the wider semiconductor supply chain, it signals that equipment makers are reconfiguring production toward Asian customer markets. Definitions of the alternative performance measures used are published on the company's investor relations page. SUSS, headquartered in Garching, employs approximately 1,500 people worldwide and recently generated sales of approximately EUR 500 million. Its quarterly statement as of September 30, 2026, is scheduled for publication on November 5, 2026.
