Telomir Pharmaceuticals Publishes Preclinical Data Showing Telomir-Zn Improves Insulin Sensitivity in Type 2 Diabetes Model

Telomir Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TELO) has announced the peer-reviewed publication of preclinical data in Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy showing that its lead candidate, Telomir-Zn, restored insulin sensitivity and improved glucose homeostasis in a diet-induced zebrafish model of Type 2 diabetes. According to the study, treatment with Telomir-Zn produced dose-dependent reductions in fasting blood glucose and insulin levels, improved glucose tolerance, and significantly lowered HOMA-IR scores, a widely used measure of insulin resistance.

The findings add to a growing body of evidence supporting Telomir-Zn’s mechanism of action through modulation of intracellular metal homeostasis. The company noted that the biological pathways targeted by Telomir-Zn have been implicated in both metabolic disease and cancer. The results complement the company’s recently FDA-cleared Phase 1/2 clinical program evaluating the drug in patients with advanced or metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.

Telomir Pharmaceuticals is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company developing small-molecule therapeutics designed to target fundamental epigenetic and metabolic mechanisms implicated in cancer, aging, and degenerative disease. The company’s lead program, Telomir-1 (Telomir-Zn), has demonstrated activity in preclinical studies involving modulation of intracellular metal homeostasis, redox balance, epigenetically regulated gene expression, mitochondrial function, and genomic stability.
