Tijuana Flats Reintroduces Cheeseburger Tacos and Expands Lineup with Two New Items

Tijuana Flats, the fast-casual Mexican chain, is reintroducing its Cheeseburger Tacos after nearly a decade of customer requests. The item, which had been the most requested return product by customers, franchisees, and loyalty members known as Flatheads, is back on the menu as of September 28. But the chain isn't stopping at a simple revival: it is expanding the concept into a full cheeseburger lineup with two new offerings, all without a bun.

The new lineup includes Cheeseburger Tacos priced at $10.99, featuring two grilled flour tortillas served with fries. A Cheeseburger Burrito, priced at $11.99, wraps seasoned ground beef, queso, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard in a warm flour tortilla with seasoned fries inside, toasted until golden and served with fries on the side. For a lighter option, Cheeseburger Loaded Fries at $9.99 top crispy fries with all the cheeseburger ingredients.

James O'Reilly, CEO of Latitude Food Group, the parent company of Tijuana Flats, explained the decision: "Our flatheads and our franchisees never stopped asking for Cheeseburger Tacos and as we move forward on our Bigger.Better.Bolder brand journey, we knew we had to listen to them and bring it back." He added that the high demand signaled something special, prompting the creation of two new ways to experience the cheeseburger flavor.

The launch is significant for the brand's franchise network and its customers. By responding directly to consumer demand, Tijuana Flats aims to strengthen loyalty and attract new diners. The reintroduction could also drive foot traffic and sales across its nearly 100 locations in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and Kentucky. The move comes as the chain, founded in 1995 in Winter Park, Florida, operates under the newly formed Latitude Food Group, signaling a strategic push to revitalize the brand.

For customers, the return of Cheeseburger Tacos offers a nostalgic favorite with a twist, while the new burrito and loaded fries provide additional value and variety. The items are available for dine-in, carryout, or online ordering at all locations. Guests can also join the Flathead Rewards program by downloading the app at https://qrco.de/bbUMoR to earn points and access exclusive deals. The loyalty program rewards members with one point per dollar spent, redeemable for rewards and bonus opportunities.

The reintroduction and expansion reflect a broader trend in the fast-casual sector, where brands increasingly rely on customer feedback to guide menu innovation. For Tijuana Flats, listening to its base may not only satisfy longtime fans but also position the chain for growth as it competes in a crowded Mexican fast-casual market. The success of this launch could influence future menu decisions and franchisee satisfaction, making it a notable development for the company and its stakeholders.
