The American Heart Association has leveraged digital platforms and social media influencers to combat heart disease, the leading cause of global mortality, through an innovative TikTok LIVE trivia gameshow during American Heart Month.
The event featured 20 content creators with a combined social media following of over 110 million, strategically using entertainment to educate viewers about cardiovascular health risks and prevention. Hosted by two-time heart survivor JT Laybourne, the livestream challenged participants with trivia questions designed to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention.
With preventable risk factors like high blood pressure, poor diet, and inactivity on the rise, the gameshow aimed to engage younger audiences in critical health conversations. Notable participants included creators like Sheena Melwani, Chris Olsen, and Nurse Blake, who used their platforms to amplify the lifesaving message.
The initiative addresses a significant public health challenge: heart disease continues to claim more lives annually than all cancers combined. By transforming health education into an interactive, engaging experience, the American Heart Association hopes to inspire meaningful lifestyle changes and community action.
