Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced the start of its 2026 summer exploration program at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in Alaska’s Ambler Mining District. The fully funded program focuses on advancing the high-grade Arctic copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver project toward a future construction decision while supporting regional exploration planning across the district’s 100-kilometer volcanogenic massive sulfide belt.
According to a press release, Ambler Metals, the 50/50 joint venture between Trilogy Metals and South32, plans to complete approximately 40 drill holes during the field season, totaling at least 5,400 meters of drilling. This work will support mine design, permitting, and exploration activities at the Arctic Project. The company also announced the appointment of Ron Rimelman as president of Ambler Metals, where he will lead permitting, exploration, and development efforts across the Arctic and Bornite projects as the joint venture advances toward future development decisions.
Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns 100 percent of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects. The Ambler Mining District is recognized as one of the richest and most prospective copper-dominant districts globally, hosting polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. Exploration has focused on the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, both located within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares.
Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy Metals’ vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting and respecting subsistence livelihoods.
