Trilogy Metals Provides Update on Proposed U.S. Department of War Investment

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) has provided an update on its previously announced proposed strategic equity investment of approximately US$35.6 million by the U.S. Department of War (DOW). The investment is intended to support continued exploration and development activities at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in northwestern Alaska.

The company stated that discussions with the DOW remain ongoing and that the letter of intent signed in October 2025 remains in effect as both parties continue to advance discussions regarding the proposed investment. This update comes as the company seeks to further develop its copper-focused assets in a region considered one of the richest copper-dominant districts in the world.

Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns a 100 percent interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects. The project is located within the Ambler Mining District, which is known for hosting polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. Exploration efforts have concentrated on two key deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit.

The proposed investment from the DOW could provide significant financial backing for exploration and development, potentially accelerating the path toward production. This is particularly important given the growing global demand for copper, a critical metal for electrification and renewable energy technologies. The Ambler Mining District's copper resources could help meet this demand, positioning Alaska as a strategic source of domestic copper supply.

The company emphasizes its commitment to responsible development, working in cooperation with local communities. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, to ensure that exploration and potential development proceed with respect for subsistence livelihoods.

The ongoing discussions with the DOW highlight the strategic importance of securing domestic sources of critical minerals. If finalized, this investment could provide a major boost to the development of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects, potentially contributing to the U.S. supply chain for copper and other essential metals.
