Tropical Orthodontics has been awarded the 2026 Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellence, extending an unbroken streak that began in 2017. The Mississauga-based practice has now earned the distinction for ten consecutive years, a milestone that underscores sustained patient satisfaction and clinical consistency in a competitive healthcare market.
The Consumer Choice Award is one of Canada's most respected business recognition programs, honoring organizations that consistently deliver outstanding service and customer satisfaction. For Tropical Orthodontics, the decade-long run reflects the trust that patients and families have placed in the practice and its team over the past ten years. The award is based on consumer votes and independent research, making it a direct reflection of patient sentiment rather than industry peer review alone.
Led by Dr. Joel Schacher, a certified orthodontist and founder, Tropical Orthodontics has become one of the most recognized orthodontic practices in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. Dr. Schacher's career spans more than 40 years, during which he has helped thousands of children, teens, and adults achieve healthier, more confident smiles. A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, he completed his orthodontic specialty training at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. He is also the founder and president of the Ontario Damon Study Club, has taught orthodontics to dental residents at Hamilton General Hospital, and has served as a guest lecturer for graduate orthodontic residents.
"Receiving the Consumer Choice Award for ten consecutive years, from 2017 through 2026, is an incredible honour," said Dr. Schacher. "This recognition reflects the trust our patients and families place in us every day. We remain committed to delivering exceptional orthodontic care, embracing innovation, and helping every patient achieve a healthy, confident smile."
The practice offers a comprehensive range of services, including Invisalign and clear aligners, Pitts 21 braces, Damon braces, adult and teen orthodontics, bite correction, non-extraction orthodontics, and smile enhancement and teeth alignment treatment. It is particularly noted for modern treatment systems that support efficient tooth movement, improved patient comfort, and healthier long-term results while reducing the need for unnecessary tooth extractions and invasive procedures.
Located in the heart of Mississauga, Tropical Orthodontics draws patients from Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke, and across the Greater Toronto Area. The sustained recognition matters beyond the clinic itself: it signals to consumers in a crowded orthodontic market that consistent quality and patient experience can be measured over time. For the industry, the award highlights the growing demand for innovative, less invasive treatment options and the importance of patient-first care models. As the practice celebrates this achievement, it remains focused on continuing the standard of care, innovation, and patient experience that has defined it for more than a decade.
