Four promising Utah life sciences startups emerged victorious at the 2025 BioUtah Pitch Competition, showcasing the state's expanding biotechnology and healthcare innovation ecosystem. Demeter, RefloDX, Sethera Therapeutics, and Monere were selected as category winners from a competitive field of twelve companies.
The shark-tank style competition, which attracted 37 initial applicants, awarded each winner a $4,000 cash prize, marketing services, and a one-year BioUtah membership. The competition covered critical healthcare sectors including medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, and digital health technologies.
BioUtah President Kelvyn Cullimore emphasized the significance of these innovations, noting the judges' challenging task of selecting winners who are potentially pioneering transformative healthcare solutions. The competition provides a critical platform for local healthcare innovators to present their groundbreaking technologies to industry experts, investors, and venture capital firms.
By highlighting emerging life sciences startups, the event underscores Utah's growing reputation as a burgeoning hub for healthcare and biotechnology innovation. The pitch competition represents more than a contest; it serves as a vital networking and visibility opportunity for entrepreneurs seeking to advance medical technologies and attract potential investment.
