Verizon Launches iPhone 18 Pro with No Trade-In Required and Annual Upgrade Option

Verizon has announced that the new iPhone 18 Pro is now available, and customers can get it without trading in their current device. The offer includes the option to upgrade to a new iPhone every year through the Simplicity Pro plan. This move could simplify smartphone purchasing and reduce the financial barrier to owning the latest technology.

The iPhone 18 Pro features a redesigned 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture and is powered by next-generation chips, delivering the greatest sustained performance in iPhone history. The iPhone 18 Pro Max offers the biggest jump in battery life in iPhone history, according to the company. These advancements aim to attract consumers seeking top-tier camera and performance capabilities.

Verizon's Simplicity Pro plan includes unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium hotspot data, and standard roaming in Canada and Mexico, all for $80 per month after Auto Pay and switch discounts, plus taxes and fees. The plan also includes no activation or upgrade fees and a new iPhone every year. Customers can enroll in Verizon Loyalty to earn Verizon Dollars and access exclusive experiences. For those who prefer to trade in, Verizon offers up to $1,200 off a new iPhone with an eligible trade-in and a new line on an eligible myPlan. Existing customers can get up to $1,020 off when they upgrade an existing line with a trade-in. The trade-in device must be an eligible Apple, Google, Motorola, or Samsung phone active on an account for at least 60 days. Credits are applied over 36 months.

Verizon also offers a bundle deal: buy a new iPhone or bring your own iPhone with a new line, and get an Apple Watch and an iPad on us. This requires purchasing the Apple Watch Series 12 and iPad on a 36-month installment plan and adding monthly service lines. The offer can be combined with Simplicity and myPlan.

The new Apple products include the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and the iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone. The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch external display, powered by the A20 Pro chip. These devices are available for preorder starting September 12, with broad availability on September 18. The iPhone Duo will be available for preorder on October 16.

This announcement matters because it signals a shift toward subscription-like models for smartphones, potentially increasing upgrade frequency and customer loyalty. For consumers, it offers a way to always have the latest iPhone without the hassle of trade-ins. For the industry, it may pressure competitors to offer similar flexibility. Verizon's focus on simplicity and loyalty could reshape how carriers attract and retain customers. With the holiday season approaching, these offers may drive significant sales and set a new standard for device financing.
