Victoria Gunawan has been announced as the writer for the upcoming short film "Tomorrow, We Shall Bloom," directed by Cedric Christophorus. The film, set to explore themes of identity, faith, and community within the Indonesian queer diaspora in the United States, is scheduled for production from June 2025 through January 2026. Gunawan's role will encompass story structure and development, ensuring the narrative's authenticity and resonance.
The film will employ a mixed media approach, combining voiceover, group conversations, archival footage, and innovative techniques to tell a story of navigating religious shame, familial silence, and cultural narratives. Gunawan's collaboration with Christophorus, known for his work on race, gender, and immigration, signifies a significant step forward in bringing underrepresented stories to the forefront.
