Vinhomes Green Paradise, a 2,870-hectare coastal urban development in Can Gio, Vietnam, has been recognized by New7Wonders as the first Official Participant worldwide in its "7 Wonders of Future Cities" campaign. The announcement, made via Media OutReach Newswire, positions the project as a global benchmark for cities that integrate nature, technology, and human-centered design.
The recognition matters because it signals a shift in how future cities are conceived. As urbanization accelerates and climate pressures mount, the ability of cities to coexist with and regenerate natural systems becomes critical. Vinhomes Green Paradise fronts the sea and borders the 75,000-hectare Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-recognized site. With a building density of just 16% and an 800-hectare natural saltwater lagoon at its heart, the project devotes substantial land to greenery and water, aiming to demonstrate that high-density urban life can thrive alongside sensitive ecosystems.
New7Wonders evaluated the project across three pillars: Environment & Nature, Smart Cities, and People-Centered Development. On smart cities, Vinhomes Green Paradise integrates Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence into urban management, operations, and environmental monitoring. The people-centered pillar includes an ecosystem of internationally oriented healthcare through Vinmec's collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, education via Vinschool and the U.K.'s Brighton College, premium senior living through Vin New Horizon, and cultural and leisure amenities such as the 7-hectare Blue Waves Theatre, two 18-hole golf courses, the 122-hectare VinWonders complex, and Cosmo Bay.
Jean-Paul de la Fuente, Director of New7Wonders and Chairman of the campaign, said the project fulfills the campaign's key criteria and reflects a pioneering mission by a leading Asian corporation that is proactively delivering on its ESG commitments and going beyond them. He described the first Official Participant certification as a symbolic moment for the campaign and an opportunity to witness an exceptional urban environment taking shape.
Beyond conventional sustainability, Vinhomes Green Paradise is pioneering an enhanced ESG++ framework built on five pillars: Environmental, Social, Governance, Regeneration, and Climate Adaptation. During construction, it uses K-DPM technology to transform soft soil and dredged sediment into durable fill material, reducing indirect emissions and curbing reliance on natural sand extraction. Once operational, the urban system targets 100% clean electricity from offshore wind farms 20 kilometers off the coast, complemented by solar power and battery storage. Internal mobility is designed around a net-zero-emission model with electric vehicles and boats, plus a high-speed rail link to central Ho Chi Minh City. A Forest Regeneration and Climate Adaptation Fund will support long-term research and restoration of the Can Gio mangrove forest. The project is pursuing BREEAM and ISO 37122 certifications.
