Footage Foundation and El-Agartuu are set to host a pivotal webinar on June 17, 2025, focusing on innovative methods to prevent violence against women. The event, titled 'Using Innovative Methods in the Prevention of Violence Against Women,' will delve into the power of storytelling and compassion in violence prevention, offering insights into trauma-informed approaches that can foster trust and shift harmful norms.
The webinar is based on findings from a comprehensive needs assessment conducted between December 2024 and January 2025, engaging 108 participants including government employees, NGO staff, and survivors of violence. Key findings reveal that 73% of violence victims suffer from poor mental health, underscoring the urgent need for better support systems, training for government staff, and improved collaboration across services.
Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton of Footage Foundation emphasized the importance of investing in awareness and professional capacity to combat violence. Nurzhan Tulegabylova from El-Agartuu highlighted the broader implications of these findings across Central Asia, stressing that preventing violence against women is a shared and achievable commitment. This webinar marks a significant step towards addressing the social and economic impacts of violence through compassionate, evidence-based strategies.
