workability LLC, a disability inclusion employment firm, has introduced a new reverse recruiting service designed to aid neurodivergent job seekers in the United States and Canada. This initiative aims to address the growing demand from families seeking assistance for their neurodivergent children in securing and retaining employment.
Sheila Salido Jordan, founder and managing director of workability, highlighted the motivation behind launching the service: 'The most common question we receive in our job board inbox is, "Can you please help my son or daughter find and keep a job?"' According to Jordan, maintaining gainful employment is a frequent source of tension between neurodivergent adults and their parents, particularly for those living at home. The service was developed in response to increasing email requests, especially as the job market becomes more competitive.
The Spotlight monthly subscription service offers a comprehensive package that includes surveying and interviewing the job seeker to determine their career interests and skill levels. It also recommends job pathways, suggests specific training or coursework, and provides tailored resume and cover letter writing for up to five different types of jobs and employers. Additionally, the service searches job postings, reviews job qualifications, applies for at least ten jobs per month on behalf of the job seeker, schedules interviews, and sends reminders to ensure punctuality. Post-interview, it sends customized thank-you notes and provides coaching and guidance for up to three months once the job seeker starts their new job.
Jordan explained, 'The most time-consuming and overwhelming part of a job search isn't the job interview – it's searching postings and submitting applications.' The service aims to alleviate stress and anxiety for neurodivergent job seekers by handling these tasks, allowing both the job seekers and their parents to feel more at ease during the job search process.
The subscription costs $750 per month with a three-month minimum commitment, resulting in 30 job applications submitted on behalf of the job seeker. Jordan acknowledged that the pricing might be a barrier for some but emphasized that it reflects the true cost of the time investment in each candidate. Certain job seekers may be eligible for partial reimbursement from their county I/DD department.

Jordan also clarified that while the service provides highly individualized resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews to enhance a candidate's hireability, it does not guarantee employment or job retention. 'At the end of the day, it's the candidate's day-to-day performance that will determine their success on the job,' she said.
workability LLC operates www.workability.one, a specialized job board that connects neurodiverse, autistic, and disabled talent with inclusive employers globally. Founded in 2021, the firm aims to increase employment opportunities through its job board, vocational rehabilitation and youth transition services, and national Ticket-to-Work job placement program. The company prides itself on its authentic grassroots movement, with 75% of its staff being neurodivergent or caring for a family member with a disability.
