The XOXO Reece Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth athletes through scholarships, is set to host its 4th Annual Birthday Bash on August 31, 2025. The event, which commemorates what would have been the 18th birthday of Reece Shepard, aims to raise funds for scholarships that will cover competition-related expenses for 10 gymnasts. Reece, a competitive gymnast and honor roll student, passed away at the age of 14 due to a brain hemorrhage, leaving behind a legacy of passion for youth sports and community support.
Held at Firehouse Gastro Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, the Birthday Bash is free to the public and features food, drinks, live music, and pop-up shops. A highlight of the event is the collaboration with Backpack Dreams, a fair-trade fundraising initiative that supports women artisans globally while contributing to the foundation's mission. Additionally, a virtual silent auction will further the fundraising efforts, with proceeds directly benefiting young athletes.
Since its inception in 2021, the XOXO Reece Foundation has made a significant impact, providing scholarships to over 55 young athletes across various sports. The foundation's work not only honors Reece's memory but also ensures that financial barriers do not hinder talented youths from pursuing their athletic dreams. As Rachel Hoar, a scholarship recipient, shared, the support has been transformative, allowing her to continue in gymnastics, a sport Reece loved deeply.
For those interested in contributing to the cause, donations can be made through the foundation's website, XOXOReece.com, or by participating in the silent auction. The foundation's commitment to fostering youth development and community spirit underscores the importance of collective support in overcoming adversity and achieving dreams.
