The 6th Cross-Strait Sun Yat-sen Forum was held in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, from June 27 to 29, marking the 160th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's birth. The event attracted around 2,000 representatives from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, making it the largest in the forum's history with the highest participation from Taiwan compatriots and a record number of young attendees. The forum aimed to "Carry Forward Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Spirit of Endeavor and Work Together for the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation," focusing on cultural heritage and economic cooperation.
During the opening ceremony, the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government and the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland signed the Strategic Framework Agreement on Deepening Zhongshan-Taiwan Economic and Trade Cooperation to Promote Integrated Development. This agreement establishes an institutional foundation for long-term industrial cooperation across the Strait. Additionally, a series of cultural activities, including visits to the Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the century-old Sunwen West Road Arcade Pedestrian Street, provided platforms for cross-strait spiritual integration, with participants noting shared cultural roots as a solid foundation for unity.
The forum also hosted the "Taiwan Businesses Gather in Zhongshan, Industries Glow in the Greater Bay Area" economic exchange conference, celebrating the second anniversary of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. A total of 19 industrial projects were signed, including seven Taiwan-invested projects in sectors like semiconductor supporting industries, electronic components, smart home products, high-end fitness equipment, and medical devices. The remaining 12 projects were Shenzhen-Zhongshan collaborative projects covering new energy vehicle components, industrial robotics, memory chip packaging, advanced specialty materials, and integrated cultural, tourism, and commercial developments.
Taiwan business representatives praised Zhongshan's business environment. Zhang Congyuan, Chairman of Huali Industrial Group, commended the city's enterprise service philosophy of "staying out of businesses' way when everything runs smoothly while providing prompt support whenever needed," which helped his company become a global leader in athletic footwear manufacturing. Guo Wenhai, secretary of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, extended invitations for investment, emphasizing strong industrial infrastructure and high-quality government services. Leveraging the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, Zhongshan aims to create broader cooperation prospects for enterprises from both sides of the Strait.
Participants agreed that the forum, coinciding with the 160th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's birth, created new channels for cross-strait exchanges. Moving forward, Zhongshan plans to organize entrepreneurship support programs for Taiwanese youth, youth exchange activities, and Guangdong-Taiwan industrial matchmaking events. By carrying forward Dr. Sun Yat-sen's spirit and embracing Greater Bay Area opportunities, the city aims to contribute to integrated cross-strait development.
