Dr. Barry Pangrle has joined the executive management team of Abacus Semiconductor Corporation. Dr. Pangrle, a co-founder of Esperanto Tech, brings with him a wealth of experience from leading tech giants such as Nvidia, SiFive, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics (now Siemens EDA). He is recognized as a pioneer in the RISC-V ISA and has made significant contributions to power analysis, management, and optimization in the semiconductor industry.
Dr. Pangrle's career in Silicon Valley spans 30 years, during which he has led teams in fabless semiconductor startups and EDA companies to design groundbreaking products. Notably, his efforts in revitalizing the Synopsys Power Compiler and PrimePower R&D teams have generated tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue. He has also spearheaded design methodology and flow efforts at XStream Logic and Esperanto Technologies.
Dr. Pangrle holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He believes that the era of compute in software on a CPU is nearing its end, and that the trend towards General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) compute will evolve into more efficient heterogeneous compute systems, led by RISC-V CPUs and special-purpose accelerators.
Dr. Axel Kloth, Founder and CEO of Abacus Semiconductor Corporation, expressed his enthusiasm about Dr. Pangrle's appointment, stating, "I am proud to have Barry join the Executive Management Team at Abacus Semi, as this is a major endorsement of our technology, of the existing team, and of the outlook into the future. Barry is a huge asset to the company and to the industry. His insights are invaluable."
Dr. Pangrle's addition to the team is expected to bolster Abacus Semiconductor's position in the semiconductor industry, driving further innovation and growth. This move signifies the company's dedication to advancing technology and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
