ams OSRAM AG announced on July 30, 2026, that its Supervisory Board has approved the reappointment of CEO Aldo Kamper with a new contract effective October 1, 2026, running through September 30, 2031. The extension, which replaces a previous term set to expire on March 31, 2027, underscores the board’s confidence in Kamper’s leadership since he took the helm in April 2023.
Dr. Margarete Haase, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, highlighted Kamper’s achievements, stating that he “strategically realigned ams OSRAM and laid the foundation for sustainable growth.” Key milestones under his tenure include the successful implementation of the “Re-establish the Base” efficiency program, strengthening the financial base, and positioning the company in the digital photonics field. The new contract, she said, “reaffirms its full confidence in Aldo Kamper and looks forward to continuing this exceptionally successful collaboration.”
Kamper expressed gratitude for the board’s trust and pride in the team’s accomplishments. He noted that together they have “established the basis for the next growth phase as a focused technology company” and look forward to developing ams OSRAM as a leader in digital photonics, covering areas such as augmented reality and data communication.
Kamper’s career at OSRAM began in 1994 in Regensburg. He held various leadership roles in Europe and the U.S., focusing on LED and specialty lighting. As CEO of the Opto Semiconductors business unit from 2010, he pioneered microLED technology and dynamic front-end lighting, and expanded the global manufacturing footprint. In 2018, he became CEO of Leoni AG before returning to ams OSRAM in 2023.
Upon becoming CEO of ams OSRAM in April 2023, Kamper launched the “Re-establish the Base” program to focus the portfolio and boost profitability. Under his leadership, the group streamlined structures, assigned clear responsibilities to business units, and reduced debt significantly. The sale of the non-optical sensing business was completed on July 1, 2026, establishing a sound financial foundation for profitable growth in the optical core business and future digital photonics applications.
