The DFW Car and Toy Museum will welcome the Antique Toy Collectors of America for its annual convention on May 5, 2025, offering collectors and enthusiasts a rare opportunity to explore one of the most comprehensive toy collections in the United States.
The museum, located in North Fort Worth, boasts an impressive collection of over 3,000 toys dating back to the late 19th century. Its extensive holdings include early German toys from manufacturers like Marklin and Tippco, as well as American and Japanese collectibles. The museum's collection also features early patent models, salesman samples, a dedicated Monopoly gallery, and an array of robots and model race cars.
Founded in 1965, the Antique Toy Collectors of America has grown from a United States-based organization to a global nonprofit with members representing diverse collecting interests. During the convention, club members will have unrestricted access to browse the entire museum collection and are encouraged to photograph the exhibits.
Museum founder Ron Sturgeon, who began collecting automotive toys and cars in the 1980s, has curated a unique space that celebrates automotive and toy history. The new 150,000-square-foot facility features more than 200 cars, including a significant collection of 35 Volkswagens, reflecting Sturgeon's early automotive work.
The museum offers free admission and parking, making it accessible to toy and automotive enthusiasts. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, the facility provides a compelling destination for collectors and history buffs alike.
