The Atlanta Community Food Bank is hosting its 41st annual Hunger Walk Run on March 9, with registration closing on March 7. The event aims to raise awareness and funds to address the growing food insecurity crisis in Georgia, where one in five children face hunger.
Participants can make a substantial impact through their involvement. Each registered walker provides 90 meals, while runners contribute 120 meals to those struggling with food access. Over its 40-year history, the event has raised more than $15.5 million, translating to over 46 million meals distributed.
The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at The Home Depot Backyard, offering an inclusive environment for individuals and teams of all ages and abilities. Registration costs $30 for walkers and $40 for runners, with options for on-site registration at a higher rate.
As the fourth largest food bank in the United States by distribution volume, the Atlanta Community Food Bank serves over 715,000 food-insecure individuals through a network of more than 700 nonprofit partners. The Hunger Walk Run supports local organizations including food pantries, shelters, community kitchens, senior centers, and childcare centers.
By participating, community members can directly contribute to addressing food insecurity in metro Atlanta and North Georgia, helping to provide critical nutritional support to vulnerable populations during challenging economic times.
