Author Loxley Browne is launching an innovative educational initiative to inspire students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through a competitive program, seven schools within three hours of Birmingham, Alabama, will be selected to receive a comprehensive educational experience valued at $2,000.
The program targets Title I schools and those with high percentages of lower-income students, aiming to provide transformative educational opportunities for underserved student populations. Selected schools will host Browne for a full day of interactive activities, including a presentation about her Charms Book Series and insights into STEM career pathways.
Each selected school will receive 20 books from the Charms Book Series and participate in an engaging program designed to spark student curiosity. To be considered, schools must have a minimum of 50 students in attendance and demonstrate enthusiasm through an application process.
The initiative represents a strategic approach to addressing educational inequity by bringing high-quality STEM enrichment directly to schools that might lack such resources. By targeting schools with diverse student populations, Browne's program seeks to broaden access to inspirational educational experiences.
Schools interested in the program must submit nominations by April 25, 2025, with winners announced on May 1, 2025. All school visits will be completed by June 1, 2025, providing a dynamic conclusion to the academic year.
