Balanced Wellness Massage Therapy Opens at Salon and Spa Galleria South Cooper in Arlington

Licensed massage therapist Terry Johnson has announced the grand opening of Balanced Wellness Massage Therapy at the Salon and Spa Galleria South Cooper in Arlington, Texas. Johnson's mission is to help people feel better, both mentally and physically, through a distinctive approach to massage that emphasizes continuous touch and trust over force.

"Massage is very therapeutic," Johnson said. "People often think of massage as something simple—pressure, muscle, relief. But it's so much more than that." With three years of experience, Johnson learned her techniques at Tarrant County College and honed them while working overseas in Thailand. There, she discovered that effective massage goes beyond manipulating muscles. "I learned during my time in Thailand that it was never just about the muscles," she noted. Her teacher taught her that "the body doesn't open through force. It opens through trust."

Johnson observed her teacher maintain continuous contact with patients, never breaking the stroke. "When you break your stroke, the body wakes up again—like someone tapping you on the shoulder just as you begin to drift into sleep," she explained. "But when the touch flows without interruption, the nervous system softens. The mind lets go. That's when real change begins." This philosophy became the foundation of her practice. Sessions begin with slow, intentional warming of the body, allowing muscles to soften naturally before gradually working deeper. Because tension offers no resistance, Johnson can reach deeper layers without causing pain. "And all the while, my hands never lose connection," she said. "Each stroke flows into the next, creating a rhythm that your body begins to follow. Many clients tell me they lose track of time or feel like they've drifted somewhere between sleep and waking."

According to Johnson, the real work happens in the nervous system. "By the end of the session, it's not just that your body feels better. It feels reset," she said. "That's the difference between a massage and an experience your body remembers."

Balanced Wellness Massage Therapy is currently accepting new clients by appointment only. Salon hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexibility to accommodate clients' needs.
