Baltimore Chiropractic Practice Launches $1,000 Scholarship for Future Pain Relief Providers

Students who want to build careers around easing pain and improving health have a new source of financial support. Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic, a Baltimore-based provider of chiropractic care and physical therapy in Baltimore, MD, has opened applications for its Pain Relief and Wellness Scholarship. The $1,000 award is open to students enrolled in accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs in the United States, including community college students. High school seniors and GED holders who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program also qualify. Applications will be accepted through August 31, 2027, and the recipient will be announced in September 2027.

To be eligible, applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 and submit three items by email: an essay of 1,000 words or fewer explaining what inspired them to help people with pain, what they have done so far toward that goal, and how their education will help them achieve it; an updated resume; and a current unofficial transcript. The scholarship is not limited to one field of study, but each essay must demonstrate a clear commitment to pain relief and wellness.

"Every day, our doctors and staff see how much relieving pain can change a person's physical and mental health," said founder Dr. Marc Gulitz. "This scholarship lets us invest in a student who shares that purpose, whether they plan to become a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a nurse, or another provider focused on helping others recover."

The scholarship reflects the practice's broader role in Maryland's health care landscape. Founded in Baltimore in 2012, Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic now has 14 chiropractors and serves patients across Baltimore City and five surrounding Maryland counties. The practice's services include chiropractic care, physical therapy, corrective exercises, spinal and postural screenings, and lifestyle advice.

For students, the award offers more than money. It signals that pain relief and wellness are valued career paths at a time when demand for musculoskeletal and rehabilitative care remains strong. The application window gives candidates nearly a year to prepare materials, and the broad eligibility criteria—including community college students and those in nursing or physical therapy programs—could widen the pool of future providers. For the Baltimore region, the scholarship may help cultivate a local pipeline of practitioners trained to address pain and improve quality of life. Dr. Gulitz holds a B.S. in molecular biology from Lehigh University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, and he serves on the board of the Maryland Chiropractic Association. The practice's investment in education underscores how private providers can influence the next generation of health professionals.
