The Supervisory Board of Bastei Lubbe AG, a leading independent publishing group in Germany, has appointed Tina Jurgens as the new Chief Marketing and Sales Officer (CMSO) on its Executive Board. She will assume her role on November 1, 2026, succeeding Sandra Dittert, who left the company by mutual agreement at the end of her term in July 2026 after six successful years.
Jurgens joins Bastei Lubbe from ZEBRALUTION Group, one of Germany's leading digital distributors for book and audiobook publishers. Since 2024, she served as Co-CEO, overseeing the operational side of the digital publishing and podcasts divisions, as well as technology, finance, and human resources. Her career at ZEBRALUTION began in 2018 as Managing Director, where she established the new business division zebra-audio.net (now ZEBRALUTION Podcast). In 2022, she was appointed Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to ZEBRALUTION, Jurgens held various roles at prominent German media companies. After graduating with a degree in journalism and communication studies, she began her career in 2004 as a product manager at the Suddeutsche Zeitung. She went on to hold senior positions at Axel Springer, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and BRmedia, specializing in the marketing and licensing of audio content and the development of digital business models.
Carsten Dentler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bastei Lubbe AG, expressed confidence in the appointment: "In Tina Jurgens, we are gaining a proven media expert who combines long-standing experience in content marketing with extensive digital expertise and an entrepreneurial drive to shape the future. She is equally familiar with the traditional book and media business and with digital business models, and is therefore ideally equipped to strategically drive forward the marketing of our content and brands."
Dentler added, "We are convinced that, together with her colleagues on the Executive Board, she will be able to provide important impetus and unlock new potential for Bastei Lubbe."
This appointment comes at a critical time as Bastei Lubbe, which publishes books, audiobooks, e-books, and periodical novel booklets under more than 14 imprints, seeks to strengthen its digital presence. The company has positioned itself as an innovation driver in the industry, with rapidly expanding community-driven business models and a pioneering approach to digital media, producing thousands of audio and e-books distributed via all digital channels. The group reported annual revenues exceeding EUR 118 million in the 2025/2026 financial year.
Jurgens' extensive experience in digital business models and audio content is expected to be instrumental in advancing Bastei Lubbe's digital strategies. Her track record at ZEBRALUTION, where she helped build a leading digital distribution network, aligns with the company's goals of expanding its digital footprint and exploring new revenue streams.
The departure of Sandra Dittert was acknowledged by Dentler, who thanked her for her dedication and contributions to the company's positive development. "She has played a decisive role in shaping the publishing group’s positive development and has thus made a significant contribution to its profitable growth and portfolio expansion. We wish her all the best for the future," he said.
As Bastei Lubbe continues to navigate the evolving publishing landscape, the new CMSO's leadership will be pivotal in driving content marketing and sales initiatives, ensuring the company remains competitive in an increasingly digital marketplace.
