BlackPast.org Receives Grant from H-E-B, The Largest Grocery Chain in Texas

BlackPast.org, a nonprofit organization focused on providing reference information on people of African ancestry, has received a $10,000 grant from H-E-B, the largest grocery chain in Texas. Founded in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas, H-E-B now has 420 supermarkets throughout Texas and Mexico and is ranked as the sixth largest privately held company in the United States by Forbes. Tanique Evans, Chair of the H-E-B Diversity & Inclusion Team, expressed the company's hope that their support will help BlackPast.org succeed in promoting factual black history. Founder and Interim Executive Director of BlackPast.org, Quintard Taylor, highlighted the significance of this grant, which follows donations from major corporations like Boeing, Microsoft, and Eli Lilly. Taylor emphasized the growing recognition by Corporate America of BlackPast.org's role in educating a global audience on the history of people of African ancestry. BlackPast.org, founded in 2007, offers reference information on notable Black individuals and events impacting humanity. With a volunteer staff and contributors from six continents, the website has 10,000 pages of free and ungated content.
