Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has announced the commissioning of its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor water treatment system at the Dome Mountain Water Treatment Plant, designed to meet all regulatory discharge standards. The system, developed in collaboration with environmental consultant Soren Jensen from SRK Consulting, represents a significant step in the company's environmental stewardship commitment while supporting upcoming underground operations.
The MBBR system is part of a state-of-the-art facility capable of treating up to 400 liters per minute, with current mine water output estimated at only 20-40 L/min, providing substantial capacity for operational scaling. This infrastructure ensures compliance with permit conditions and aligns with the company's environmental objectives as it prepares for production.
Underground mining operations are scheduled to commence on September 24, 2025, beginning with development work. The company expects to achieve production rates of 100 tonnes per day within four weeks and 150 tonnes per day within twelve weeks, with five to six working faces exposed for operational flexibility. All mine waste will remain underground, further demonstrating the company's environmental commitment.
To enhance operational readiness, Blue Lagoon has signed a Mutual Aid Agreement with New Gold Inc., ensuring access to additional emergency support if required. The underground program will be led by experienced professionals, including Mike McCartin overseeing daily operations and a Senior Mining Engineer from Roughstock Mining Services establishing mining protocols and standard operating procedures.
President and CEO Rana Vig emphasized the transformational nature of this phase, noting that Dome Mountain is one of only nine projects permitted in British Columbia since 2015. The project's fully permitted status, combined with established infrastructure and technical expertise, positions the company for near-term cash flow generation while maintaining safety and environmental care as priorities.
The company's production decision is based on existing mining infrastructure, past bulk sampling activity, and established mineral resources rather than a feasibility study, acknowledging increased uncertainty but proceeding with the support of professional expertise and comprehensive planning.
