Carlston Ranch Begins Development in Carlsbad, NM

The City of Carlsbad, New Mexico, is set to witness a significant transformation with the commencement of Carlston Ranch, a Master-Planned community that has been over a decade in the making. The project recently broke ground on its first of four phases, covering an expansive 297 acres and featuring 139 single-family lots, apartments, commercial and retail spaces, a business park, and an RV resort. This development is poised to usher in a new era for the region.

Carlston Ranch, encompassing a total of 1,232 acres, is owned by Montclair Development Corporation (Montclair). Strategically located in the historic city of Carlsbad, the community has already seen the construction and completion of the Coterra Training Center and related infrastructure at the intersection of National Parks Highway and Aviation Way. Upon full completion, Carlston Ranch aims to offer a complete, full-service community where residents can live, work, and play.

Cheryl Carlson, one of the principal owners of Carlston Ranch, expressed her optimism about the project, stating, "I always had faith that it was going to work. I am excited to be a part of Carlsbad. I think we are bringing something that Carlsbad can be proud of."

The initial phase, dubbed The Landings, will focus on developing 139 housing lots and will include amenities such as a clubhouse and pool. Infrastructure development for this phase is set to begin immediately.

Carlsbad Mayor Rick Lopez shared his enthusiasm about the development, saying, "I am honored to be part of this groundbreaking. This project will offer many needed options for housing, retail, and industrial uses. Carlsbad will greatly benefit from Carlston Ranch being developed."

Carlston Ranch is designed to provide a diverse range of residential options, including single-family detached homes, townhomes, apartments, single-family rentals, modular homes, and RV resorts. The community will also feature retail, grocery, and entertainment opportunities, including shopping, movie theaters, and restaurants, promising a vibrant and dynamic lifestyle for all residents.
