FROSTBURG, MD – Clym Environmental Services, LLC celebrated the official opening of its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, who gathered to mark the milestone.
The ceremony featured a VIP tour of the facility and information stations highlighting the ozone treatment technology that will be used at the site, including a rendering of the soon-to-be-completed interior. Energy Select, the solar company behind the facility's installation, hosted a display demonstrating the benefits of the new solar system that will power Clym's operations.
The program opened with introductions from Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, and Richard Police, Director of Business Development at Clym. Remarks followed from Charles Watts, President of Clym Environmental; Harry Coker, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce; Bill Atkinson, Allegany County Commissioner; Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development; and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council.
McCoy emphasized the significance of the facility for the local community: "Today we celebrate the future," she said. "Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."
Clym also received a certificate of congressional recognition during the ceremony, presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator for the congresswoman, delivered the certificate and praised Clym's work: "Your pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology is truly remarkable. Thank you for your contribution to workforce opportunities and long-term economic growth in Western Maryland."
Once fully operational, the Frostburg facility will use Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material and convert it into safe, reusable materials. The technology relies on ozone generated from ambient air and powered by solar energy, an approach designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional thermal treatment methods.
The ribbon-cutting follows several milestones for the Frostburg project, including Clym's recognition as the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year winner at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The facility supports Clym's continued growth across the eastern United States and reinforces its role in advancing sustainable waste management practices for the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.
