Comcast is set to revolutionize internet connectivity in four Minnesota communities by expanding its next-generation network to Prior Lake, Savage, Victoria, and Waconia. The multi-million dollar project will provide more than 30,000 homes and businesses with high-speed, symmetrical internet services for the first time, marking a significant infrastructure investment in the region.
The expansion represents a substantial commitment to technological advancement, bringing Comcast's total investment in Minnesota's infrastructure to over $525 million in the past three years. The new network promises multi-gigabit internet speeds, 99.9 percent reliability, and built-in cybersecurity protections.
Beyond residential services, the network expansion will offer critical infrastructure for local businesses through Comcast Business, providing scalable connectivity and communication solutions. This investment has potential to drive economic growth and digital transformation in these communities by enabling more robust remote work, educational opportunities, and business operations.
The network will deliver comprehensive services including internet, mobile, entertainment, and security through Xfinity and Comcast Business brands. Notably, the company also plans to support digital inclusion through its Internet Essentials program, which offers low-cost internet to eligible households.
This strategic expansion reflects the growing importance of reliable, high-speed internet infrastructure in supporting modern community development, economic mobility, and technological accessibility.
