City Administrator Mark Schuller expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the importance of offering residents and businesses another option for reliable internet services. Rodrigo Lopez, Senior Vice President of Comcast's Pacific Northwest Region, emphasized the strategic significance of expanding network infrastructure in growing communities like Cheney.
The project will provide multi-gigabit internet speeds with powerful WiFi coverage, enabling residents to stream content, video chat, learn remotely, and browse the internet with enhanced performance. For local businesses, Comcast will offer a suite of connectivity, communications, and cybersecurity solutions designed to support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
Beyond residential and commercial services, Comcast has also installed over 10 Lift Zones in Spokane County, providing free internet connectivity and educational content to support online learning initiatives.
