His previous positions include heading Global Data Governance for Amazon Finance Operations and serving as Head of Data Governance at the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg.

Kessler's career also includes a notable tenure at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland, where he was the first information governance lead. He has chaired and spoken at numerous international conferences on data governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance, and is a board member of the Certified Information Governance Officer Association (CIGOA). In 2020, he was recognized as one of the "Global Top 100 Innovators in Data & Analytics" by Corinium Global Intelligence.
