Emerald Cruises & Tours has completed successful sea trials for its new super yacht Emerald Kaia in Halong Bay, Vietnam, advancing the vessel toward its scheduled April 2026 debut. The trials confirmed the yacht's performance, maneuverability, and seaworthiness ahead of its inaugural 11-day sailing from Limassol, Cyprus, to the Acropolis beginning April 4, 2026.
This milestone is significant as it demonstrates Scenic Group's continued expansion in the luxury yacht segment and its commitment to delivering unique guest experiences. The completion of sea trials allows the company to proceed confidently with final commissioning, bringing the vessel closer to joining Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet. James Griffiths, Scenic Group General Manager of Ocean Operations, stated that the sea trial delivered excellent results and represents a testament to the project team's dedication.
Emerald Kaia represents the next generation of luxury yachts, designed for only 128 guests to ensure an intimate, relaxed experience. The yacht features expansive lounges, terraces, and decks with Missoni decor, along with new interconnecting suites for families and groups. An all-new Observation Sun Deck includes an additional Spa Pool, sun loungers, and shaded areas, while an innovative indoor/outdoor gym adjacent to the marina platform allows guests to exercise with sea views and access swimming directly from the platform.
Culinary innovations include a redesigned signature restaurant La Cucina with a vibrant open kitchen and the new Night Market Grill, an intimate private dining experience for eight guests available at additional cost. These features position Emerald Kaia to compete in the growing luxury yacht market where personalized experiences and premium amenities are increasingly important to travelers.
The yacht's progress comes as Scenic Group continues to expand its fleet across multiple brands. Following Emerald Kaia's 2026 launch, the company plans to introduce sister yachts Emerald Raiya in 2027 and Emerald Xara in 2028, further expanding boutique superyacht itineraries in warm-water destinations. The successful sea trials indicate that Emerald Kaia is on track to meet its 2026 launch timeline, which is important for the luxury travel industry as it recovers from pandemic-related disruptions. The yacht's Mediterranean, Adriatic, Caribbean, Central American, Seychelles, and Indian Ocean itineraries will provide new options for affluent travelers seeking intimate yacht experiences with premium amenities. As the luxury cruise market evolves toward smaller vessels and personalized service, Emerald Kaia's design and capacity position it well to capture demand from travelers seeking alternatives to traditional large-ship cruising.
